LIRO ry in English
The Lahti Engineering Students, known as LIRO ry was founded on 30.11.1982 and is one of the local associations of the Union of Engineering Students IOL ry. LIRO has approximately 600 members, consisting of engineering students at the Lahti campus of LAB University of Applied Sciences. The board is elected annually and generally consists of 11 members. The board is also assisted by a network of contact persons.
LIRO ry’s mission is to act as an active advocate for the engineering students at the Lahti campus of LAB University of Applied Sciences. We strive to develop engineering education in Lahti so that students have the best possible beginning for working life.
LIRO ry also organizes various events for local engineering student culture. These include events like Tursajaiset, GetAway Lahti and Vappu.

Office meetings
LIRO ry holds meetings in Mukkulankatu 19 KOE room A162. These office hours are shared in social media like Instagram and Facebook on Monday, if it is open.
You will find your way there by walking in from university’s main entering and continuing straight to another side of the university. You can notice this student room by its sofas, glass walls and logo.
Membership guide for international students
Beside the benefits for the student life mentioned before, once you join a member you will also get huge amount of advantages from Union of Professional Engineers in Finland. You will get travel insurance, banking benefits, Employment services and assistant, ILRY mobile app and other member benefits as a part of it.
The professional unions like ILRY are here to advocate for the interests of employees and negotiate with the employer about a collective agreement regarding wages, working hours and all terms and conditions of employment. The unions provide employees an advice, training and benefits. They are seeking for a better work life for the professionals in Finland area.
You can join a student member on link bellow and find guidance and more information about the membership in ILRY website. The student membership lasts up to 5 years, meaning the studying period. To join a member, you will need a Finnish personal identification number.
